    I believe it has to do with the fact that you're trying to replace the HTML code which fired the current line of execution. been trying to get rid of the runtime error in ie for the past 6hrs - i just removed the form tags from my page and voila! I tried to create a small test example, but of course it works correctly. Firefox was fine, IE was was producing the runtime error.Well I narrowed it down to the form was causing the problem.
