Bit Error Rate Modem

Please do not modify it. I thought maybe it might be the ethernet cable I had going from the modem to the router, so I replaced it and the same thing happens. No cable modem can measure actual SNR. BTW, I've seen it go much higher, about 900%, if I recall. check my blog

Up on 25 MHz is normal... The system returned: (22) Invalid argument The remote host or network may be down. What is the math? Once compiled, the program will run a simulation of the linear modulator/demodulator in an additive white noise channel, generating a data file which can be plotted using either Gnuplot or Octave

It might be best to get a tech back out. I don't think I can return it, I don't have the physical packaging still. My SNR seems low though I'm not sure, it's 27.4.

My plan is to replace the runs into the house with RG6. Bit Error Rate Calculator A DOCSIS Cable Modem possesses a RS decoder.

When I check my modem, I look for a high SNR (high SNR means that the signal is much stronger than the noise), and good TX and RX levels. Bit Error Rate Measurement Therefore, a quasi-error free level, such as 1E-9, or one error in a billion, is used. No further edits should be made to this section. You can download a tarball of the source code to generate this example here: liquid_modem_ber_example.tar.gz .

The compressed archive contains the following files: modem_ber_example.c : the source code for the simulation modem_ber_example.gnuplot : a Gnuplot script to convert the results of the simulation into a figure modem_ber_example.m Bit Error Rate Tester Software V-Cable changes [Ebox] by diskace472. Just curious - I have yet to tie this behavior to any service issue for the three years since I first saw this. · actions · 2009-Mar-26 12:12 pm · FlashfoxEco-Text In our transponder design, we don’t have to add a RS decoder.

Bit Error Rate Measurement

It works for awhile, and eventually degrades to a very slow speed. I don't know if that is meaningful. Acceptable Bit Error Rate Please check out our forum guidelines for info related to our community. Bit Error Rate Pdf One thing that does concern me is the SNR.

About 48 hours. (Jim Waschura, SyntheSys Research, Inc.) Bit error rate[edit] Isn't it supposed to be bit error rate? click site Problems tend to be greatest during evenings and weekends, where the 'good' connection will last for just a few minutes. Most people expect modem connections to be error free, which is technically impossible to measure. Bit Error Rate Testing Here is a snapshot of my system (provisioned for 15 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up):Downstream Freq/Power: 705.000 MHz 5 dBmV Signal to Noise Ratio: 37 dB Modulation: QAM256 Upstream Freq/Power: 33.008 It seems to be causing problems even for wired connections.

Mounting Antenna [HomeImprovement] by DarkLogix273. I guess it's the modem =/ That's good though, I can get it replaced faster than it would take for them to come fix any line problems. In hindsight, we should correct our literature to reflect that we do not do a BER test. From a codeword perspective, if it registers a bit error, it registers a symbol error. In the early morning it will often stay good for hours or nearly the whole daytime. More about the author You need a significant number of errors to have confidence in the BER.

Cheetah has substituted CER for BER as a way to report this qualitative character of errors in a data stream. It is a parallel argument whereas MER is superior to BER with respect to complexity, cost and time. Common linear digital modulation schemes with an average pulse amlitude \(A_p\) For simplicity let's confine the discussion to linear modulation schemes: those whose resulting transmitted signal is simply a linear combination After longer periods, the bit error rate will get to a little over 1%.
